The Morgan Dollar’s popularity began its journey in 1878, and continued on a successful path until 1904. For 17 years, the Morgan Dollar lie dormant, only to regain its virtue in 1921. On the front of the Morgan Copper Bar is a detailed picture of Morgan. Her face is affixed straight ahead, as she stares into the future. She represents the ideal of Liberty signifying freedom in America. On top of her head is a notable Phrygian cap, circular in design, with the word LIBERTY inscribed around the edge of the cap’s ribbon.

The crown is made from cotton and wheat, which are the two food staples of America’s agricultural heritage. Above Morgan’s head are the words which every other coin created in the United States would read; E PLURIBUS UNUM, which means “out of many, one.” The edge of the copper Morgan bar rests 13 tiny stars, each representing the 13 colonies of the United States.
