The successful Australian Koala series from The Perth Mint has a new design for 2025. This coin is .9999 fine silver and will continue the series' rich tradition and carry on its legacy.
Each year, the Koala series showcases a new design, making every year's coin unique and highly collectible. This year's issue has a limited mintage of just 300,000 coins, adding to its collectibility as a bullion coin.

Coin Highlights:

• Contains 1 oz of .9999 fine silver.
• Each coin comes in a secure plastic capsule. Multiples of 20 come in sealed rolls, and multiples of 100 come in cardboard boxes with sealed rolls inside.
• Eligible for Precious Metals IRAs.
• Obverse: Artist Dan Thorne's depiction of His Majesty King Charles III and the monetary denomination, "1 Dollar."
• Reverse: Artist Aleysha Howarth's depiction of a koala on a gum tree branch. Additionally, the inscription "KOALA," the 2025 year-date, and the weight and purity are included in the design. Also included is the Perth "P" mint mark.
• Each coin's reverse includes a security feature in the form of micro-laser engraved letter within the coin's design. It is only detectable under a magnifying glass.
• Sovereign coin backed by the Australian government.

Silver Koala Coin Series
Australia's Perth Mint introduced the Gold and Silver Koala series in 2007. Each year has featured a unique design of this animal that is associated with Australia. Australian Silver Koala coins are produced in both 1 oz silver and 1 kilogramm size, with the mintage of the 1 oz size capped at just 300,000 coins. This makes the Australian Silver Koala one of the most collectible bullion coin series. The Koala, along with the Kookaburra, Lunar Series and Kangaroo, form what has continued to be a world renowned line of high quality bullion products from The Perth Mint.

Koalas
Early European settlers initially confused these new tree-climbing animals with monkeys or bears, which is why some people still refer to the creatures as koala bears. However, koalas are actually marsupials like kangaroos and wombats. These cuddly marsupials have special physical characteristics that help their tree-dwelling lifestyle. Koalas are able to grab branches and pick eucalyptus leaves with their two opposable digits, and their tough skin and sharp claws provide traction in climbing. They even have extra thick fur on their bottoms so that they can comfortably sit on branches for hours at a time. Unique to Australia, these animals are a perfect theme for an iconic coin series.

Die alteingesessene australische Prägeanstalt von Australien, die Perth Mint, produziert seit 2007 eine sehr junge, sehr beliebte  und sehr hochwertig verarbeitete Bullionmünze – den Koala (auch „The Australian Koala“ oder „Silver Koala Bear“ genannt).
Im ersten Jahr der Ausgabe gab es diese Silbermünze nur als 1 Unze zu erwerben.
Seit 2008 gibt es weitere Stückelungen - 1/2 Unze, 10 Unzen, 1 Kilogramm und seit 2011 sogar 1/10 Unze und 5 Unzen.

Der australische Koala wird aus 99,9% Feinsilber in unlimitierter Stückzahl geprägt (Stückelung 1 Unze), hat einen Durchmesser von 40,4 mm und eine Dicke von 4 mm.

Der Nennwert der Koala-Silbermünze beläuft sich auf 1 Australischen Dollar, wobei der Materialwert diesen Nennwert um Längen schlägt.
Der Koala ist offiziell anerkanntes Zahlungsmittel auf dem 5. Kontinent.

Bei der Prägung -  die in der Regel im Oktober beginnt - des australischen Koalas setzt die Perth Mint eine selbst entwickelte Technik ein, die der Motivseite diesen ganz besonderen Schimmer verleiht. Dadurch wirkt die Anlagemünze besonders hochwertig und edel.

Das Münzmotiv „Koala“ auf der Vorderseite wechselt jedes Jahr und wird neu entworfen.
2007 zum Beispiel stellte ein „an einem Ast hängender Koala“ das Motiv dar und 2010 war es ein „Eukalyptus fressender Koala“.

Die Rückseite zeigt ein Portrait der Königin Elisabeth II., welches von Ian Rank-Broadley designed wurde.

Zwischen 1988 und 2000 wurden bereits Bullionmünzen mit einem Koala als Motiv herausgegeben – allerdings wurden diese aus Platin gefertigt.

Der Koala – ein kleiner, knuddeliger Geselle, der Eukalyptus liebt und mit seinen Kulleraugen Kinder- und Erwachsenenherzen im Sturm erobert -  ist nicht nur bei Kindern überaus beliebt, sondern ist auch ein Markenzeichen des 5. Kontinents. Aufgrund dessen ist diese wunderschöne Silbermünze besonders zum Verschenken geeignet und regt auf diese Weise so manche Sammelleidenschaft an.
